Root Construction, LLC began as Gary Root Homes, Incorporated (GRH) in 1994 by my father Gary Root. GRH started exclusively as a residential home building company.

Due to the high profile location of their first few projects, impeccable workmanship, and satisfied customers, the company was propelled into the custom home business.

I began working on the weekends for my father’s company, and commuted during college from Waco until I graduated from Baylor University in 1995.

GRH grew quickly to the point where they needed to hire help full-time.

When I was hired in the summer of 1998, my father gave me some important advice. He said, “these guys are smarter than you. They have been doing this for years. Don’t come in here and act like you have all the answers. They have all the answers, it is your job to extract the answers out of them and make the call.”

It was amazing to see this unfold. There are so many variables in construction. Someone has to be point man, decision maker, and the responsible party.

That was my job, and I loved it.

My sister, Christy Root, was later hired as a CAD designer. She and my father would design the homes, and my father and I would build the homes.

In 2006, GRH was rolled down and we reopened under the family name Root Construction, LLC (RC). Christy, Gary and I became partners.

It was during this time that we began branching into commercial construction. By late 2008, we were about 80% residential and 20% commercial construction. Residential investment property was also a large part of our business through the end of 2009.

In 2009, Gary decided to retire and Christy decided to open a new company, Christy Root Designs. I moved forward as the sole owner of Root Construction in 2010.

We currently spend our time between commercial new construction, commercial remodeling, residential new construction, and residential investment property. We also provide select residential remodeling services. Our specialty has become providing custom solutions for unique situations; “custom construction solutions” if you will.

We build homes and buildings for clients, and every client has unique needs and goals for their project. It is our job to meet those goals and needs – it is our desire and purpose to exceed them.
